During the opening of the first CNG refueling station in Toluca, Governor Eruviel Ávila Villegas reported that at the next meeting of the Environmental Commission of Megalopolis, the Government of Mexico will propose tax incentives to facilitate the conversion of gasoline engines to natural gas, in order to meet the challenges of climate change by reducing carbon emissions and promote the use of clean energy in the Central Region of the country.
He also invited motorists of the entity to perform the conversion of engines to use natural gas, so they can circulate every day, help reduce pollution and save money. “I make the invitation to all who are drivers, so they can make this conversion, and generate awareness. Drivers will also get aid for CNG conversions, to help them circulate in the Valley of Mexico, in the Valley of Toluca, without any doubt,” he said.
Therefore, Ávila Villegas instructed the Ministry of Environment to facilitate the delivery of special holograms, for a period of two years, so that taxis, which are the vehicles that initially will have this fuel system, can circulate in the Valley Mexico every day, without restriction, and which will be handed at the refueling station at the time that drivers refuel.
The CNG station opened required an investment of $100 million, has a capacity to supply 2,000 vehicles per day. The governor stressed that this project was driven by the Civil Association for Carrier Assistance, which promotes the conversion of vehicle fleet of its affiliates and to date has converted to natural gas about 500 units.
